Chess / Skak

Most of the items here are from 1995 or older - before
the internet was used by everyone.
But now I have put some of this old stuff out here.
Although it is old stuff, it might still interest someone.
Right now this page is a mix of english and danish (and german).
It should
be divided into an english part and a danish part later.
A few of the links below are not ready yet.
Dabbaba
Her er et skakprogram,
som jeg har lavet fra 1995 til 1998.
Dabbaba kan slå 4 ud af 5 klubspillere.
Dabbaba kan hentes her.
VDABBABA.EXE).
Læs en stor artikel om
Dabbaba her. (german/tysk/deutsch)
GHz PC i denne stilling.

1.Df7+! Kxf7 2.gxh8S+!
Ke8 3.Sg7+ Kd8 4.Sf7+ Kc7
5.Se8+ Kc6 6.Se5+ Kb5 7.Sc7 Kxa5 8.Sc4+ og sorts konge er mat på
a5!
Læs om knap 40 interessante teststillinger vedr.
"utilstrækkeligt materiale" her.
Read how the
chessprogram Genius fails in a certain position.
programmeret:
Se diagram.
Se
Læs evt. mere her:
http://www.chessvariants.com/programs.dir/dabbaba.html
Men
The Nielsen Ratingtest.
From 1986 to 1991 I
constructed a test based on more than 100 chess positions.
The goal was to be able to estimate the rating of the programs
tested.
And use the test for improving the development of chess programs.
Many of the positions are too easy for the computers of today.
Perhaps someone makes a better test in the future...
My article about the test in ICCA JOURNAL i 1991.
This is my original
article.
The version in ICCA JOURNAL was edited very much and almost
destroyed in my opinion.
The test:
Scheme for results and page 1.
Page 2 and 3.
Page 4 and 5.
Page 6 and 7.
Page 8 and 9.
Page 10 and 11.
Startvalue and the points (prototype 4 - the final version
of the test) used for each position.
Read here how the points were adjusted in the test.
The results for a number
of programs - page 1 and page 2.
Some notes about what could be wrong in such a test.
Although
this test is very old, I have found some notes about it on the
internet here and here.
Brutalis
Hent programmet her.
Udpak filerne, klik
er programmeret i sproget C her.
I have constructed
some tasks from the opening position.
Brutalis may help in constructing and solving such tasks.
You can see them HERE.
Hent
programmet her.
Det skal køres i den gamle QBASIC.
Der er mere information i selve programmet.
Computer-Chess
In february
1993 (Baby) Deep Blue was in Copenhagen.
Deep Blue met GM Bent Larsen and other danish top players.
I had the pleasure to prepare the danish players by making 50
A4-pages,
that was copied to all the players.
Kasparov came the day before and played a little against Deep
Blue.

After this exciting week programmer Joe Hoane & wife visited
my house in Jutland
the following week-end.
I feared Deep Blue would play in a certain way against humans,
but as expected it didn't.
I gave my advise of this kind of play to the Deep Blue Team.
You can read it HERE.... later..... See most of it below...
I have 4 hours video and many photos from the Deep Blue event.
Deep Blue ran (via Larry Kaufman) my computerratingtest (ca.
1988).
---------------------

Computers could be programmed to play especially good against humans.
As far as I
know it has never been done.
It can be seen in this article here (part1, part2, part3), that I wrote for the austrian
magazine MODUL in 1988.
It is in german - not english :o(
The article also shows some other spektacular things about
computerchess...
Computers could in short play better against humans in this way:
1) Among almost equal good moves, choose those that lead to open
and tactical positions instead of closed and positional
positions.
2) Among almost equal good moves, choose those with traps that
may lead your opponent to fail. If you are in a lost position
anyway, you may even choose a bad move if it gives your opponent
a risk to fail. This also applies to a draw position, if the bad
move still can hold the draw. See these 3 positions from my
ratingtest (pos. 39, 40 and 41) that I used in the above
mentioned article.
3) Used the opponents time to prepare an immediate answer to 5 or
6 of his best moves. This means the program will only search one
halfmove less ahead and a little weaker, but it will stress the
human, make him tired and give him no time to ponder while the
computer calculates its move.
Other variants of chess
Torben Osted and I
have invented some new variants of chess, and you can read about
them on the net here:
Twiknight chess.. : http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Field/2900/twik.htm
Transporter chess: http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Field/2900/trasp.htm
Darkness chess....: http://www.geocities.com/Colosseum/Field/2900/dark.htm (is mentioned in Wikipedia)
If
you want to play some variants of chess, you could try THESE simple ones...
In progressive chess white makes 1 move, black 2 moves,
white 3 moves etc.
This variant is played much in Italy.
In 1995 Italy challenged the rest of the world in a big match pr.
mail.
My games from this match can be seen HERE.

Nogle af mine egne skakpartier
I 1978 blev jeg
klubmester i Viby skakklub.
klubmester i Nørre Snede i 1973.
